Introduction to Mindfulness and Art-Based Stress Reduction and Resiliency Training - Bristol

posted 16 Oct 2013, 10:10 by Lynne Francis

Coming up in March in central Bristol at Coexist. Hamilton House, above The Canteen , Stokes Croft. An introduction to Mindfulness and Art -based stress reduction and resiliency training in central Bristol.

This three week experiential course will teach and explore a range of mindfulness meditation and mindful  art making exercises in a supportive group environment. These are designed  to help participants notice their  bodily responses and work with them creatively using art materials.

Mindfulness meditation and non-judgmental art making work well together, combining creative and reflective techniques that can be used to cope better with stress, develop resiliency and enhance health and well being.

The course will also  provide practical ideas and exercises for those who want to use mindfulness meditation and mindful art exercises at home or with children in school and is suitable for the public and also teachers, learning mentors and parents. Previous art making experience is not necessary, just a willingness to have a go.

Regular  mindfulness meditation now has a very good evidence base and research demonstrates that it can   reduce anxiety and depression and improve memory, stamina and  general health and wellbeing. Mindfulness based Stress reduction courses that  support health and wellbeing  and incorporate mindfulness meditation approaches are now being taught  with great success in hospitals and schools.

I have recently run a course for the British Association of art therapists on mindfulness and art therapy that shows how non-judgmental art making and mindfulness meditation can work  well in combination together.

I am a  Buddhist and qualified nurse, teacher and HPC registered art therapist.

Thursday 8th, 15th, and 22nd March, 10.00-1.00  £90.
